DEPARTURE DAY & OPTIONAL VISIT TO SHANGRA ARTISANS' WORKSHOP

Description

Arrive JRO airport and meet with our driver guide.Transfer to MOUNT MERU HOTEL in Arusha and a chance to recoup from your voyage.

Today we visit the central part of the Serengeti National Park. As we cross the Ngorongoro Highlands on our drive towards the Serengeti plains keep alert for a leopard sleeping in the tree tops. Once inside the gates of the park you'll enjoy an afternoon game drive as we seek out wildebeest during their annual migration.

After a hearty camp breakfast we'll begin our drive towards the northern plains of the Serengeti. Our goal today is to not only watch for herds of wildebeest as they cross the plains but also  the"big cats" that closely follow the herds. As wildebeest attempt to cross the croc-infested Mara River be prepared to experience first-hand one of natures'most spectacular dramas.

On today's full-day game drive you'll continue to experience why the Serengeti calls to so many adventurers. We'll continue our search for the "big five" as well as help you hone your bird recognition skills. Between sightings our highly knowledgeable guides will initiate you into the fascinating and hidden world of the symbiotic relationships of our wildlife.

Today we'll head back towards the Central Serengeti. Because the region supports a much greater diversity of resident wildlife than anywhere else in the National Park its well worth a second safari: elephant, giraffe, impala, waterbuck, hippo, topi, reedbuck, buffalo and baboon may all be in your sights today.

Guaranteed to be a highlight of your safari, today's drive takes us to the Ngorongor Crater, one of Unesco's World Heritage Sites. As we descend into the crater you'll be greeted by the spectacular panorama that will make up the backdrop for your day of magic. We'll break for a mid-day lunch along the shores of one of our country's most animal rich lakes, a favorite watering hole of hippo and waterfowl.

Today you'll again experience what makes our tour company your "touchstone" for unforgettable safari adventures as we climb down from your vehicle for a trip back in time. We'll spend the day witnessing the unchanged ways of life among the famous Hadzabe and Datoga bushmen of East Africa. Enjoy a final stay at MOUNT MERU HOTEL in Arusha prior to your departure.

After breakfast at the lodge our guests connecting with a  morning or afternoon flight will be transferred to JRO airport. Guests catching an evening flight will have the opportunity to visit the SHANGA WORKSHOP and VISITOR CENTER in Arusha where they may observe people with disabilities creating stunning handmade jewelry and glassware - all for purchase in the gift shop. If your flight schedule permits you may also enjoy a leisurely lunch at SHANGRA'S excellent on-site cafe before being driven to the airport and your farewell to your guide and to Tanzania.
